Our research essentially deals with optical subsystems and optical signal processing for high bit rate optical telecommunications, access networks and optical interconnects.
The platform finds its strength in its natural position between component manufacturers and end-users, such as equipment manufacturers or telecom operators. A number of advanced components coming from academic as well as corporate research laboratories have been characterised in a system context on the platform. The high-speed behaviour of these advanced components cannot indeed be inferred from physical characterisations alone. One of the goals of the platform is thus to validate the functionality of advanced components in a telecom environment.
